I began this position as the OR Manager knowing I would be taking over the DON position upon the existing DON retiring. That happened 9 months before I was told it would. In my role I can step into any role in the center to support my employees and physicians. I take care of staffing, payroll, patient care issues that arise during the day. I support my staff by helping during their day to ensure all goes smoothly. I am a servant leader in the belief that my day doesn’t start until the staff’s day is going well. I oversee interviewing and hiring staff in all areas except the business office. I am mindful of staffing ratios, and budget to have adequate staff for the day’s cases.
