Corrie Carter, the owner of Carter Consulting, LLC, began her nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on a surgical unit. Experiencing the limitations of being an LPN revealed to Corrie early on in her career the benefits of moving forward with obtaining her Registered Nurse license. Because of her willingness to share her knowledge and skills with the clinical students, she was encouraged by one of the hospital clinical instructors to go back to school. However, before going back to school, she worked in various fields of nursing as an agency nurse such as Med-Surg, Long Term Acute Care (LTAC), and telemetry. She became one of the few LPN’s in the state of Louisiana who was trained to place Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC’s). She eventually franchised a nursing agency of her own. Her desire to become a registered nurse grew and she sold the agency in order to devote her attention to school and focusing on being competitive. \\\\r\\\\n\\\\r\\\\nAs a registered nurse, Corrie obtained experience in oncology, nephrology, case mix for nursing homes, home health, and hospice. She gained experience as a Director of Nursing and an infusion nurse. All of these nursing departments require a keen eye for observation and attention to detail. You must be able to adapt quickly, educate others, solve puzzles, research, and think critically. These qualifications and occupations sparked an interest in Corrie as she noticed a pattern of how law and the medical field acquiesce together motivating her to go to school and study legal nurse consulting. \\\\r\\\\n \\\\r\\\\nCorrie has a wide network of nurses, administrators, doctors, and other resources on whom she can rely upon for answers. She also has her education and twelve years plus experience. She enjoys learning and stays informed of the latest medical trends to ensure her practice is based on current evidence-based practices. She is a Certified Registered Nurse Infusion and an Advanced Legal Nurse Consultant. She is a member of Infusion Nurse Society (INS), Association for Vascular Access (AVA), Oncology Nurse Society (ONS), International and American Association of the Legal Nurse Industry (IAALNI), and American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC).
